I have been a Doula since 2007, and have loved every minute of it; supporting families and empowering mothers is such a privilege and a joy.
I have been lucky to have had firstly a lovely mentor who saw me through the mentoring process until I was a recognised doula. Since then I have been fortunate in having a very good doula friend who supports me when I need it, as I support her when she has a need.
Doula-ing can be an isolated job and it’s important that we can give support to others doing this work. So, becoming a mentor was a logical step for me: to be able to support both new and experienced doulas on their journey; to be someone that knows what it can be like when things don’t quite work out how we expect; or, conversely, to share the joy when they work out better than anyone could have imagined.
I am a Mum to four grown up children and a grandmother. I love to read, walk, run, play the flute and piano, and drink good wine – though not at the same time!
Whoever you choose as your mentor, enjoy the journey!
