After my Nurturing Birth course in 2010, I jumped head first into doulaing and my own mentorship journey. Being mentored was one of the most valuable, challenging and affirming experiences of not just my doula adventure but of my life. I continue to reflect and find time to be heard and gently challenged during my own mentoring sessions which I value tremendously.
After 4 busy years supporting dozens of births in the UK alongside my Birth Positively birth preparation classes, I moved to Switzerland where I ran the European Doula Network for over 3 years. I spent 2 years living in the United Arab Emirates, 20 mins from Dubai immersing myself in a new and diverse birth culture then navigating supporting families and the doulas I mentor during the pandemic.
A decade of supporting families internationally has given me such a wide view of birth and parenting culture. It’s the greatest ongoing lesson in cultural literacy. Being a doula and a mentor for me is a life long adventure of learning and re-learning, listening and listening harder, stripping back and growing. Embracing the idea that I’ll never be the finished article opens me up to endless opportunities.
I am currently living just west of central Paris in St Germain-en-Laye with my husband and 2 of my 3 kids plus the random stray animals I seem to have a knack of collecting!
I’m a confident, honest and fiercely loyal person who doesn’t take herself too seriously. Having been bitten by the adventuring bug at 40 years young, who knows knows where we will all end up next!
