An interactive workshop created for doulas and birth workers looking at supporting both clients and themselves through all birth journeys including baby loss.
Although centred on loss, the values and tools you will discover will impact every area of your life as a doula and will make you more aware of how often some sort of loss is part of your client’s story.
Supporting Every Birth is facilitated by Michelle Every, an experienced small group facilitator, birth and postnatal doula, mentor and member of the Nurturing Birth team. Michelle was also a volunteer for The Miscarriage Association for over ten years, facilitating the Manchester Support Group, providing phone line support, mentoring new volunteers and acting as media spokeswoman. She is known for her caring honesty and availability to listen in moments of crisis and intensity. Having supported loss before training to be a doula in 2007, she was astonished to discover that doulas felt unprepared to support families through loss and felt they did not have anywhere to go to find support for themselves. Michelle responded by writing and facilitating Supporting Every Birth.
During the day we will consider:
- Caring for ourselves
- Valuing every birth including loss
- Learning from those who have experienced loss or supported loss
The cost for the workshop is £80 per person to be paid in full at booking via Paypal. The day runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm with several breaks built in. To book simply complete the form below and follow the Paypal instructions.
