We provide different options for those who want to support people in pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Our doula training courses are available both in-person and online and all include mentoring. We provide a doula community for support, connection and ongoing learning as well as mentoring for all doulas wherever they are on their doula journey. We also have a Directory for parents to find doula support.

Why do we do what we do?
Our values are compassion and respect. We aim to provide safe spaces for people to explore the role of the doula and be supported on their doula journey. We want to encourage people to be the best possible version of themselves, to do the necessary reflective work (with support from both facilitators and mentors) so that they can go out and be with families as they bring babies into the world. We want doulas to have plentiful opportunities to think about the core qualities of doulaing, recognising the boundaries of the role and interacting with other people in the birth world with care and kindness. We care about people being able to access relevant, up-to-date, evidence-based information so that informed decisions can be made. Ultimately, we want to see everyone who either wants or needs a doula able to access one, so that babies come into the world feeling nurtured and supported.
Who is this for?
Our courses are open to anyone who would like to become a doula. Lots of people assume they need to have had children, have medical experience or qualifications (you don’t). Our courses are open to all! We do encourage anyone who is interested to contact us so they can have a call with one of the team to chat it all through. Three times a year we offer a 5-day experience, Is there a doula in you, for those who want to explore doulaing before committing to a course. Our mentoring is open to all doulas, regardless of how far along the journey they are or where they are based in the world. Our ethos is that mentoring is essential for all! We also have coaching to support doulas and those in the perinatal world to develop their businesses.
Supporting, guiding and informing new families
A Nurturing Birth doula is able to provide emotional, practical and information support to new families. They are able to provide evidence-based information to support families in making informed decisions about their care. They are able to help people navigate the maternity system and feel empowered in their choices about where, with whom and how they bring their babies into the world. Nurturing Birth doulas act professionally, are aware of their boundaries and act with compassion and respect. They continue to do reflective work so that they are able to support families without bringing their personal baggage to the experience.
